I can imagine what springs to mind, when you see that title… But let me calm you, it has nothing to do with what you think. No other life, other wife, other family, not the double life you’re dreading. I pray as a wife I never go through that.
But what I am speaking about, is life as a mom, the one that we present vs secretly wishing you could be sixteen again without the kids and the chores, the school runs, ever lasting demands, the sleepless nights and endless poopy diapers. Sounds so glamourous right!!! ahhahahah….ahhhh.
Social Media has created this false sense of perfectionism that is mommy land. The perfectly staged photos, the well behaved kids, the perfect bodies, the mom who can handle it all. We all feed into it, wether we like to admit it or not. I often find we are our own biggest critics, we end up self loathing for the simplest things-barely noticeable. A little mom pudge, one boob is slightly smaller/bigger than the other, a little under eye bag, underarm flaps…you name it we’ve got it. But the beautiful thing about life as a mom? We get reminded everyday how fragile life is and how precious simple moments are.
No Media Take Out….
This week’s tip is a little less about being productive, but more about being appreciative about life and that as moms we get to bring life into this world. The facade that we all create to portray to the world that we’ve got it handled, we’ve got it all figured out, leaves much to be desired by distraught un-looking moms who are thinking they are hanging by a thread, but are hooked by all that is polished for posting.
Me? I fall prey to it too…I ain’t even gonna front. It’s hard in these social media streets. But, as I begin to realize A LOT OF MOMs are struggling just the same, some of us either battle secretly or openly. Either way, I wanna say that we all should try and be a little less judgmental of each other as moms….We all ain’t here tryna ‘Post to be’ and remember, motherhood is a a verrry long marathon, not a sprint. So cut yourself some slack Mommabear, you’re doing just fine.
